We spent most of the time with the Fleet Training Group out of San Diego untill the Gulf Crisis when they sent us to Mid Pac in Hawaii. We unreped the ships headed to the Gulf. We were getting refited to go into the Gulf when the War ended. We went back to Hawaii and were there when the Midway turned over to the Idependance. We followed the Midway back to San Diego. We stayed there for awhile untill they got the New MSC oilers operational then we headed to San Francisco for the Decom. I thought that they would keep the Kawishiwi because we had a rear refueling rig but I guess she is due for dismatalling. She was not famous enough. She is just a beautiful old workhorse of a ship.
