The aluminum molding is 9 in. High, 9-1/2 in. Wide,
1/2 in. thick and weighs approx. 4 lbs.

A retired AF worker walked through an annex to the HQ building at Pearl Harbor before it could be torn down. He found an aluminum plaque commemorating the USS Kawishiwi.  It was forged at Pearl Harbor. His name is Glenn, who e:mailed Vern on Nov. 25 and offered to donate it to us. Vern replied and had him give the plaque to Drew Andrews who lives in Kailua, HI and Drew now has it.

The person with the highest bid must send his check to Dick Elmore. Drew will then send the piece to the winning bidder. Drew will be refunded his expenses by Dick.

Suggestion: Terry Mitchell suggested, 6 min. before 1st bid, that we should get the mold to someone who could make a rubber mold of it then plaster of paris duplicates of it before it is auctioned off? Vern told him that it will be up to winning bidder to allow this to happen.

Suggestion: Tom Antonishak, If there is interest, I can get prices of casting it in bronze and/or resin.  I would have them done at cost, although the bronze ones would be a lot more.  We may have to have a minimum order to make it feasible but I don't think it would be too great a number, perhaps 6 or more.  If it's bronze, it would take 10-14 weeks to mold and cast.  Resin would be less time.  If you think there would be some interest (based on your auction bids), let me know.  We could establish a cut off date for orders, so we could have them for the reunion.
