USS Valley Forge CV-45 Website
The
photos below were provided by Tim Scott, who's father served on Valley
Forge from June 1952
to mid 1955.
He said he
didn't know about them going on a world cruise or he would have waited
to go to some schooling
the
navy was offering till after they got back. Tim was in the Army.

The Oiler above looks like the Navasoto
AO-106 or a sister ship. The Oiler in photo below is the same.

Stackgas, coming from the stack way up in the island. You can bet
the engineers got scolded for that eruption, with the relative wind
being such as to carry it over the flight deck. Tom Wimberly

Tim said his dad played basketball here in Bay-2. This photo was made
looking aft from the very forward part of
Hangar Bay 2. The light on the right side of the picture comes
from the no. 2 elevator position.
In the center of the picture, light can be seen in Hangar Bay 3 in the
vicinity of the no. 3 elevator. Tom Wimberly
